Two children, an eight-year-old boy, and his seven-year-old sister tragically lost their lives in a house fire on Sunday morning. The family has revealed that both children had been diagnosed with Autism, although their names have not been disclosed.

Upon receiving reports of the fire along the 12400 block of Kamm Ave. in Kingsburg, Fresno County Sheriff’s dispatchers immediately dispatched Cal Fire firefighters to the scene. The mother of the children was reported to be frantically trying to save them by ramming a vehicle into the engulfed home, prompting the dispatchers to also send deputies to ensure safety.

Firefighters bravely navigated past a live downed power line to extinguish the fire and conducted a search of the home, tragically finding the two children who did not survive. The mother, who sustained burns to her hands and face during her rescue attempt, explained that she had tried to reach her children in another room but resorted to crashing her SUV into the house to create an exit point for them.

The house has been declared a complete loss, and Cal Fire is currently investigating the cause of the fire, with no suspicions of foul play. In response to the devastating incident, the Sheriff’s Chaplaincy Unit, county mental health workers, and the L.O.S.S. group have provided support services to the mother.
